Inside the world of Inside Out.

What Inside Out Really Means
and why it really matters for your business
Rachel Roberts - 15 May 2025
After more than 25 years working in communications – from in-house leadership roles to advising major brands – I’ve created a new business offering. It’s called Inside Out Consulting, and its purpose is to help businesses connect their internal world with their external brand.
Inside Out is the result of everything I’ve learned through decades of experience, and more recently, looking at my work with fresh eyes while studying for a master’s in Marketing and Digital Communications. That process gave me space to reflect. It helped me define what I do best – and why it makes a difference.
At the heart of it is a simple idea: the most successful businesses are aligned from the inside out.
When your purpose, culture and communications are clear, consistent and lived day to day, that strength carries through into your brand, your marketing, your customer experience and your results. You can feel the difference in confident teams. You can see it in stronger strategies. And customers can sense it too. I’ve seen what happens when that alignment is missing – when a company’s outward message doesn’t match what’s happening inside. It creates confusion. It erodes trust. And it holds growth back.
Inside Out is here to help you fix that.
Whether you run a small business, a start-up or a big corporate business, I can help you join the dots between strategy, culture, customer experience, communications and marketing. When these areas work together, things get clearer. Momentum builds. The message lands better. Your business moves forward.
This blog – News and Musings – will be the thinking space for that work. I’ll be sharing practical tools, insights from recent projects, and ideas shaped by my academic research. Topics will include internal branding, ethical marketing, communications strategy, and what it really takes to build a business that feels joined-up from the inside out.
If you’re building something and want to get the foundations right, or if your business needs help telling your story from the inside out, I’d love to help.
