Keep Moving Forward

This morning started off… not great.
I woke up feeling a bit off – a bit sicky, and I had a twinge in my ankle. I hadn’t had supper last night, so I was probably just hungry and low on energy. Add in a looming assignment deadline, and I had the perfect excuse to skip the gym. Honestly, I had a whole menu of excuses lined up – and they were solid.
But I was in Dublin on Tuesday and have already missed a gym session this week, and somewhere in the back of my mind, that little voice whispered, “Go. You’ll feel better.” So, I put my shorts on and dragged myself out the door.
Was it fun? Not especially.
Did I love every minute? Definitely not.
But after? I felt amazing. Like I’d rebooted both my body and my mindset.
After that, I joined a brilliant webinar with Jennie White that gave me a much-needed hit of energy and focus. Then I settled in for an afternoon of blog writing for my assignment, well, I was writing my assignment… until I started writing this instead (classic procrastination).
But here’s the thing. This morning, I almost bought into the excuses. I could’ve stayed curled up, ankle twinging, deadline looming, letting the day pass me by. Instead, I kept moving. And that’s the key. You don’t have to leap forward. You don’t have to love every step. But if you just keep moving, even a shuffle counts, momentum will find you.
So if today feels a bit meh, if your excuses feel louder than your motivation, just take one small step. Lace up the trainers. Open the laptop. Show up, not perfectly, but fully.
Because progress isn't always about passion. Sometimes, it's just about getting your shorts on and keeping going.
